How We Work

We start with you

Designing your space is a collaborative process between Dwellologie Design Group | Decorating Den Interiors and YOU (our client). This phase is focused on getting to know you, understanding your needs like they were our own. Noel Gatlin will be asking lots of questions and partnering with you to establish the scope of your project.

The initial appointment typically lasts about an hour. During the consultation, we will take a brief tour of your home or office. This helps Noel understand the space, lighting and other elements that should be considered in the design plan. Your style and functionality for each space, along with identifying existing furnishings that should be included in the plan, are mutually determined. Upon agreeing to work together, pictures and video are taken, along with room measurements, so we can create an outstanding design just for you.

Noel will take the time to describe our design process, discuss project timeline, preliminary investment, and what to expect throughout your design journey with Dwellologie Design Group. Before the design process begins, both style and a budget are agreed upon.

Investing in yourself

People are often shy to discuss how much of an investment they want to make on their space, but for both parties it is by far one of the most important aspects of the initial consultation. Many people are unaware of how much things cost, especially with customized items, and we work with you to determine a budget that accomplishes the project goals.

You may choose to work on one space at a time or an entire home or business. The investment will determine the furnishings needed for the project. We have access to a vast array of products and furnishings.  We have to the trade only pieces, custom upholstery and custom window treatments. We also have imported furniture at different price points to help fit in anyone’s budget. We also offer a full range of commercial furnishings.

Design Plan & Presentation

During this phase we finalize all your design needs. In our studio we create floor plans and/or 3D renders to help you visualize your space before any physical changes are made or orders are placed. We pull together a variety of design and product/material options, all personalized for you. On our follow-up appointment, we reveal our recommendations for creating the space of your dreams. Noel will present her ideas through a mixture of presentation, product images, as well as hand samples of products such as flooring, tile, drapery and furniture fabrics. Together, we’ll make the selections and discuss any adjustments necessary to the design plan. Noel will have worked with the investment level that was agreed on earlier in the process.

Once you have made your selections from the plans, designs and furnishings shown at the Design Presentation, a contract will be drawn, and preliminary installation dates discussed. Dwellologie Design Group will begin ordering fabric, rugs, furniture, wall coverings and drapery from multiple vendors, both nationally and internationally. As your products are ordered from a wide range of vendors, items arrive individually and are stored safely until everything arrives. Some things may arrive within weeks, custom items may take several months depending on fabric availability and production schedules. Noel’s team will keep you informed throughout the process.

The Big Reveal

If you are having extensive renovations, you will see the major work being done. But if you are having a room decorated, you can look forward to a huge surprise.

You’ve waited patiently for installation day, surely the most exciting day for both you and Noel! It is advisable to leave Noel and her team alone in your home to supervise the sub-contractors who will install window treatments and hang light fixtures. We handle every last detail.

If you are painting and having wallpaper installed, that may happen earlier to avoid paint spills on your new furniture. Noel will call you to return home when everything is perfect. There is nothing more exciting than having left your home in the morning then returning later to see the transformation in the final reveal. Enjoy your new space — hiring an interior designer is worth it!
